Another one of our popular treatments that many of our athletes use as part of their maintenance treatment. We would combine this with plenty of assisted stretch therapy to loosen the soft tissue muscle and to also improve the range and quality of the movement of the joints.
Although there are multiples forms of cupping practices and techniques, hijamah is synonymous with a specific type of cupping therapy, known as wet cupping. We combine wet cupping with many of our treatments for those that come in for regular maintenance.
HOW IT WORKS
In the traditional Hijamah (wet cupping) we perform, the suction is applied to the intended site of treatment first for a short duration. This is to encourage blood and tissue fluid to collect under the cup without breaking the surface of the skin. After this the cup is removed and small incisions are applied. Immediately after application of the scratches, the suction cup is reapplied, encouraging the site to bleed.
The cup will remain in place for a duration of approximately 10 minutes. In which time small quantities of blood is released from the skin and collect in the cup. The cup is then removed for the final time and any collected blood is disposed of. The area is cleaned thus completing the hijamah or wet cupping process.
Acupuncture is a treatment derived from ancient Chinese medicine. Fine needles are inserted at certain sites in the body for therapeutic or preventative purposes.
It involves stimulating sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscles. This results in the body producing natural substances, such as pain-relieving endorphins. It's likely that these naturally released substances are responsible for the beneficial effects experienced with acupuncture.
Reflexology is an alternative treatment for a wide variety of conditions and can help stimulate nerve function, increase energy, boost circulation, induce a deep state of relaxation, eliminate toxins, stimulate the central nervous system, prevent migraines, clean up urinary tract conditions, speed-up recovery after injury or surgery, help relieve sleep disorders, reduce depression, and relieve pain.
Many of us find ourselves on our feet all day at work. Whether you work in an office, a factory, a field, a hospital, or anything in between, there is a good chance that you put a lot of weight and stress on your feet every day. It is not always the back, stress can manifest itself in the other parts of our body too. People often opt for massages, so it makes sense that there should be foot massages too, right? Reflexology is much more than a foot massage, but at its foundation, that’s the easiest way to describe the process.
